The ERC project Re-thinking Judaism’s Encounter with the Roman Empire: Rome’s Political and Religious Challenge to Israel and its Impact on Judaism (2nd Century BCE – 7th Century CE) (acronym: “Judaism and Rome”) invites applications for 3 full-time positions as post-doc or research associate in the following fields:

a) Roman History (preferably someone with some experience in Roman legal sources)  (2 years position)

b) Rabbinic Judaism  (3 years position)

c) History of Ancient Christianity  (3 years position)

The research associates shall work with Dr. Katell Berthelot, Principal Investigator of the project, within the Centre Paul-Albert Février, a research unit of the National Center of Scientific Research (CNRS, France) and the University of Aix-Marseille, based in Aix-en-Provence, at the Maison Méditerranéenne des Sciences de l’Homme (see www.cpaf.cnrs.fr and www.mmsh.univ-aix.fr). Under certain conditions, residence in Aix-en-Provence may not be mandatory. The appointments shall commence on September 1st, 2015. Applications should be sent until the 15th of March 2015. Interviews (if appropriate) will take place via skype.

Applications should include a letter of application, a CV (including a list of publications), one or two published articles (or the PhD), a copy of the PhD diploma (or a certificate from the University, if the PhD was defended too recently) and the names and e-mail addresses of two referees from whom letters of recommendation may be solicited.
